About Fox River Press

A small publisher of reference sites, each resting on a claim only its editor can make.

Fox River Press publishes a handful of reference sites. Each one covers a subject its editor has first-hand standing in: a wired garage and a Level 2 charger for home charging, the editor's own open frequency study for Ukrainian vocabulary, and a long civic data habit for everything else. Sites on credit, courts and the smart home are in preparation and will carry the same name when they open.

Every site names this publisher on every page. Separate sites built to hide their scale read as spam. Separate sites with a named owner and distinct jobs read as a publisher. We chose the second.

How the pages are made

There are three paths, and every page's footer says which one it took.

  • Money and the law. A page starts from a demand signal and a list of sources, is drafted by a language model, passes a quality gate that refuses thin, duplicate and unsourced drafts, and then waits for the editor's signature. No search engine may index it before then.
  • Hardware and the home. The same draft and gate, then the page publishes and the editor samples what went out.
  • Data and reference. Pages are compiled by code from cited open datasets, and a test fails the build if a printed number stops matching its data.

The editorial policy sets out what a page has to clear, and Corrections lists every page we have had to fix.

Money

No site in the network runs advertising today, and no link pays us. When that changes, Advertising and affiliate links will say where and how, before the first ad or paid link appears.

The editor

Jake Lawrence is the editor and the named reviewer. The editor's own site, research and data studies are at https://jakelawrence.xyz.
